We are a Family Owned & Operated Business, enabling us to keep Costs down & the quality of Service up. Our base is in Cranbrook, which enables us to reach and service all corners of the Kootenays within the same day. For 20 + years we were Co-Owner and Partner in a Company with 70 employees that specialized in Steel Fabrication & construction & the erection of Concrete Structures in the U.K. After Immigrating in ‘94’ we gained another 15 years as Licensed Builders in Canada, this gained us invaluable ‘hands on’ construction experience.
With our broad background knowledge of different Construction techniques, we were quickly impressed with the Benefits of Insulated Concrete Form Construction. From the very first day we started building with ICF’s we have continued to admire. We highly value the benefits of, speed of building, insulation properties, mould & mildew resistance, sound, storm & fire resistance and an Environmentally Friendly Structure that will last over 100 years. All achieved at the same time with the simple building of a wall, at an economical cost that cannot be matched by any other construction method.
With having a young Son we appreciate the good we can do for our planet, by wisely building with a product that can save 3 tons of green house gases going into the atmosphere every year. Helping to save our planet by how we build is a small price for our children’s future.
We would love to see all structures built to the trusses with ICF construction, saving up to 50% on heating & cooling costs, therefore also reducing the size of HVAC units. We will be really happy to go through the construction phases & benefits of building to the trusses with anyone who is considering this method. Building with ICF is not really difficult, similar to building with Lego when we were kids.
The simplest form of residential construction is to build the walls to 1st floor height, then install the floor, load the ICF onto the floor & then build the walls to second floor or truss height.
When building with ICF we have built the walls, insulated (to a very high standard) the walls, vapour barrier to the walls (which also eliminates air movement from inside to outside & from the outside to the inside) and installed the second plane of protection (there is no wood in this wall to rot or decay), all these processes have been simply achieved by ICF construction. The walls are now ready for drywall, no need to worry where the studs are, as it doesn’t matter where the end of the sheet is, as the ICF forms the drywall sheet backing. All siding types can be installed, ICF is particularly good for synthetic stucco as it can be applied direct to the form & there is no wood for rot or decay, as there is with traditional framing. The ICF is very resistant to mould & mildew, which is a very genuine health concern, our view is if it can be achieved at no extra cost, just by building with ICF then it has to be a good thing to do.
